Delaney Rasmussen joined the Columbia Track & Field and Cross Country programs as an assistant coach in July of 2024.
Rasmussen spent the 2023-2024 season as an assistant coach at UCLA, working with both the men’s and women’s distance programs. During this time, Rasmussen helped Mia Kane win the Pac-12 Individual title in the 3000m steeplechase and Michael Mireles finish as the Conference runner-up in the 5000m. Additionally, Rasmussen helped the Bruins claim 8 marks on UCLA’s top-10 all time lists in indoor and outdoor track.

Rasmussen kicked off her coaching career at Sacramento State University in July 2022, working as the sole coach with the men’s and women’s mid-distance and distance athletes. She led student-athletes to Big Sky Conference Podium finishes in the 800 and 4x400 relay events. In one year at Sac State, Rasmussen helped her athletes crack the program’s Top-10 all-time lists, with 10 women and four men achieving this feat. By the end of Rasmussen’s time at Sacramento State, she was promoted to Associate Head Cross Country Coach.
As an athlete, Rasmussen ran for Northern Arizona University. During her time there, she was a part of 11 Big Sky Conference Championships teams. Rasmussen saw the berth of the NAU women’s team to the NCAA Championships, competing there twice and finishing as high as 44th individually and 11th as a team. On the track, she qualified for the NCAA West Regional twice in the 5000m.
A native of Folsom, California, Rasmussen earned her Bachelor’s degree in biomedical science with minors in chemistry and business in May 2020. She went on to earn her Master’s of Education in Human Relations and a Graduate Certificate in Ethnic Studies from NAU in May 2022.
