Union Catholic’s recent results demonstrate the strength and depth of McCabe’s program. In 2025, both the Union Catholic boys’ and girls’ teams established national high school records in the 4×800-meter relay, while the girls finished third at Nike Cross Nationals (NXN).

With the entire lineup returning, the Union Catholic girls enter the 2026 cross country season ranked No. 1 in the country. The program has also won four New Jersey Cross Country Meet of Champions team titles. Individually, this past track and field season Paige Sheppard won a national championship in the 800 meters and went on to become a World U20 finalist in the event.
McCabe has received numerous national coaching honors, including being named the 2019 USA Today All-USA Girls Track & Field Coach of the Year and earning multiple USTFCCCA Coach of the Year honors. His coaching résumé extends beyond the distance events as well: McCabe coached Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone during her remarkable career at Union Catholic, including her qualification for the 2016 Olympic Games while still a high school student
